Calcium-dependent protein kinases are found primarily in plants and apicomplexan parasites. We present here the structure of Plasmodium CDPK4, which in particular has been implicated in gametogenesis. This structure displays the inactive conformation of a CDPK, as calcium is not present in the CAD domain (in green). We have also solved other CDPK structures including Plasmodium CDPK1 (3Q5I), Toxoplasma CDPK1 (3HX4, 3KU2), Toxoplasma CDPK3 (3HZT), Cryptosporidium CDPK1 (3IGO) and Cryptosporidium CDPK3 (3LIJ).
