Eukaryotic Gene Expression Systems Workshop

International Conference on Structural Genomics

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

May 10th 2011

Download agenda here.

Organizers:

Stephen K. Burley, Eli Lilly and Company, San Diego, CA
Steven C. Almo, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY

Workshop Objectives:

The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with a detailed understanding of the state-of-the-art for production of eukaryotic proteins destined for biochemical, biophysical, and structural analyses. The potential/limitations of bacteria and insect and mammalian cells and cell-free systems will be reviewed, with reference to experiences in various high-throughput structural genomics centers. In addition, there will be a focus on the development/exploitation of new expression strategies including enhanced host systems and technologies for production of multi-protein assemblies, which represent important targets for the next generation of structural biologists.
