Christopher Wynder Ph.D.

Principal Investigator- Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute
Asst. Professor-Dept. of Biochemistry and Biomedical Science
Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University

Dr. Christopher Wynder joined the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute (SCC-RI) in June 2006 with an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Wynder’s research program aims to understand the targeting of the KDM5/JARID1 family of H3K4 demethylases to regulate differentiation and transformation in an ES cell model system. Dr. Wynder’s recent publication regarding the biological function of the histone demethylase KDM5b is one of the first regarding the biological function that these proteins play in cell fate decisions. Prior to his arrival at McMaster, Christopher completed a postdoctoral position with Dr. Ramin Shiekhattar at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia. He received his PhD in 2002 from The Rockefeller University in New York under the supervision of Dr. Nathaniel Heintz.
